Repopulating the Endangered Elegant Albatross, the Gliding Kings of the Pacific
Jan 10th
The albatross is a giant seabird that is native to some islands of the south Pacific. You won’t find it in the Atlantic. The bird is characterized by its huge size and tremendous wing span. One species called the Laysan albatross is native to an island off Hawaii. The US government declared that island a protected monument, as more than half a million nesting pairs congregate there every year. The bird is renowned for its elegant flying style, bumpy landing pattern and complicated mating rituals. Around January, every year the birds eggs hatch and much time goes in their caring and nurturing. By August the chicks grow into adults, and all fly away by the end of September. The birds spend most of the time gliding over the ocean. They survive on squid, krill and fish picked up by surface diving. Poaching the birds for their excellent feathers, over fishing in the oceans, and massive plastic pollution, have driven many species to extinction. This has been reduced considerably, and now a concerted international effort is being made to protect these remarkable birds.
I’ve Got to Get in Touch
Jan 8th
I couldn’t tell you exactly why I have this foreboding feeling all of the time, but I really kind of feel like i’m just failing my kids, over and over again. I have trouble connecting to them now that they’re going through adolescence, and while I know that this is a pretty typical thing, I still have a lot of trouble justifying just keeping silent when they aren’t happy with me. Of course I know that it’s more important to be their parents than their friends, but I really believe that I need some help to work this all out. I’m considering looking up “Therapy Raleigh NC” to get in touch with a therapist who might help me talk through some of my issues. I have a feeling that my fears might be rooted in my relationship with my own mom and dad, and that I might have to conquer those first. I don’t know though.
How to Save Marriage by Seeking for Help
Jan 6th
When you have been fighting out with your partner for quite some time, the problem might be very serious already. How to save your marriage might then be the perfect question to raise, since the more you talk about things, the more difficult it is for you to resolve.
In this case, you might want to seek help from a third party. This could be through a marriage counselor or a psychologist. By then, you will easily determine the real issues and try to find a way out of it.
Usually, the counselors will do their best to help you on how to save marriage. They help you feel more comfortable discussing your problems as you know that there are people who will be there to meddle if the case has gone worse. Their presence will also make you feel like someone will be there to think clearly in your behalf. However, in the end, if divorce is the best way out, they will definitely suggest it.
A Marketing Opportunity
Dec 21st
Photo booths can be very instrumental in creating strategic marketing opportunities. A popcorn hire company makes booths available to companies for marketing campaigns. It is also a fantastic way to do branding of new product releases. This specialized marketing tool allows the brand to be visible on the day in many ways. Sticker printing, fridge magnets, and mugs are but a few items that can be branded with the company logo together with a picture of the guest. The booth allows the company to put artwork on the booth so it could be clearly visible and create associations in the minds of guests. No marketing event is too big or too small to use a photo booth to create opportunity for sales. Even social media could be used coupled with the photographs taken with the photo booth. Photographs are loaded onto the companies’ Facebook page and branding continues further.
How to Come Up with a Parenting Plan with Your Partner
Dec 6th
When it comes to having a child there needs to be a plan set in place for how you are going to parent them. This doesn’t have to be extremely detailed or something to stress over, but it should be something you discuss with your partner. It’s not always easy to do this if you both don’t agree on ways to handle different scenarios. By taking Parenting Classes together both of you can come up with a plan that works for you during the first few years you have the baby. Of course you can come back to this topic as certain things come up with the child as it’s growing up. The classes cover a variety of different topics and will teach you a lot about the first few months of being a parent. They are affordable and something that both of you can do together to learn more!
How to Train Your Child to Sleep Through the Night
Nov 21st
Sleep is a fundamental necessity for normal, healthy functioning. Unfortunately, many parents of young children find that they sorely lack the sleep that they require. Their child thinks it is time to get up before the sun is even up, at all hours of the night. Or perhaps their child keeps getting up in the middle of the night, needing comfort. What can you do about this? Here are two tips that will hopefully help you, if you are in that situation.
Use a reward system to keep them in their bed throughout the night.
Often a child will wake up if they have nightmares, and need legitimate comforting. If that is the case, then you probably don’t want to ignore them and hope that they get back to sleep on their own. But often, the child just gets into a bad habit, and wakes up because that’s what is convenient and easy for them.
In this case, the key is to convince your child that it’s more advantageous for them to sleep through the night, than wake mum and dad up. And one way is by promising them a reward if they stay in their bed all night. Put up a sticker chart: tell them that if they stay in bed overnight they can get a sticker.
And show them how many stickers they need before they get a more substantial reward. Start with only a few stickers (e.g. 5) being necessary before a reward, and then work your way up. This way, your child will realise that it’s in their own best interest to stay in bed overnight.
Use a commercially available sleep trainer to help them wake up at the right time
There are a number of commercially available sleep trainers (i.e. Clocks), such as the Gro Clock Sleep Trainer. These clocks are set by you at night, and have two faces: a night face, and a day face. In the case of the Gro Clock, the night face is coloured blue, with pictures of stars on it, telling the child that it is sleep time. At a certain time that you set, the night face changes to a day face, which in the case of the Gro clock, is a yellow light with a sun face on it. This tells the child that it is time to get up. Many parents have used the Gro Clock, with a great deal of success, and you can read my review through the previous link.
In Conclusion.
Getting your young children to sleep through the night is a challenge, but it is worth the effort of making it happen. Hopefully these tips will have helped you on your journey to a good nights sleep!
